Problem for an electrical contractor - installing a KNX system at client’s property.

There are many building automation protocols in the market today and it’s virtually impossible to be the expert of them all. This case study focuses on the role of Home of Technologies, a value added KNX distributor, in helping an electrical contractor to install KNX system for their client. An electrical services company from London was doing a project in a high-end Chelsea property where their client had requested them to install KNX automation system. The electrical contractor didn’t have expertise in KNX system therefore they needed someone to build a KNX distribution board that controls all the devices as well as receive support for the installation and wiring.

Our company - Home of Technologies, was the first choice for their KNX project. After the initial discussion with the electrical contractor, our team did assessment of light circuits and everything that had to be automated and controlled at the property. We provided specification and presented a solution to their client alongside with physical product samples from our exclusive brand TENSE – one of the best high-end KNX switches in the market.

Tense - Top Design Switches
TENSE is a switches manufacturer from Belgium that provides top quality switches with vast choice of luxury finishes from aluminium and glass to stone, marble and corian.

We supplied the site with all the required drawings and manuals for the contractor about how to run the installation and they also appointed a member of their team to take a KNX course at our training centre to better understand the ins and outs of KNX.

Our team had to find an enclosure that would fit in the allocated space at the property and also one that would be able to house all the required devices. Having a vast experience in sourcing goods and products a perfect size enclosure from IDE was found very quickly. It fit the space at customer’s apartment and it measured perfect to house all the devices planned. Also, because KNX is such a versatile system with more than 300 manufacturers, there was no problem in finding quickly all the necessary products to fulfil the client’s requirements.

The distribution board was built by following the earlier drawn up plan earlier and it was important to make sure that anyone could understand at a glance what is going on in the distribution board after it had been built. All electrical contractor was left to do was to follow the installation manual and connect all the wires and enjoy the benefits of KNX system. We supplied all products pre-programmed with their physical addresses and that made the integration quicker and easier.

We always provide full pre- and after-sales support for our core-brand (Tense, Eelectron, Divus, CJC Systems and NETx) devices because it is our top priority to make sure our customers are completely satisfied with our products and solutions in the long term.
